(Jeez, I need to fix up my artist identities. Works quite well, but it would need a different structure to best support a vocal.) (* One of the bootleg ideas I tried out was with a couple of '90s rap acapellas. …maybe even a more committed hip-hop version* and/or an Erykah/Jill Scott/Floetry-style vocal. It could also be extended to ~3’20”, so lots of room to play with.
Still, it’s currently only a short draft, so there may be some changes. If anything, I might try it with a bit of a neo-soul broken swing, where the timing becomes quite loose, even a little ‘sloppy’. Want it to feel lazy and really easy-going. Some bits could benefit from a little tightening up, but I wouldn’t want to put too tight a swing on that part. Lost myself in the groove more than once. So much soul in that, I couldn’t help but play on.Ī good dose of Roy Ayers influence in there too - ‘Everybody Loves the Sunshine’ being one of the best Summer jams ever ( the best, imo).
